Our Commitment to Your Privacy
Welcome to WeatherWiseWanderer. Our guiding principle is to collect as little personal information as possible and to be transparent about how we use the data we do collect. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can manage your information.
Information We Collect
1. Information You Provide to Us
- Mailing List: When you subscribe to our mailing list via Kit, we collect your email address and optionally your first name. This is separate from site registration and is used solely for sending you updates, news, and requests for feedback.
- Account Registration: When you register for an account (including via social logins), we collect necessary information like your name, email address, and a unique user ID.
- Payment Information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processors (Stripe, via RevenueCat) handle the transaction. We do not see or store your full credit card information. We may have access to partial information like the last four digits of your card, card type, and expiration date for verification and support purposes.
2. Information We Collect Automatically
- Website Analytics: We use Plausible Analytics to understand visitor behavior and improve our website. Plausible is a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not collect any personal data or personally identifiable information (PII). All data is aggregated and anonymized. You can view Plausible's data policy here.
3. Information From Third-Party Services (Social Logins)
- If you choose to register or log in using a third-party service like Google or Facebook, we request permission to access basic profile information from that account, such as your name, email address, and profile picture. We use this information to create and populate your account on WeatherWiseWanderer. We never receive or store your password for these third-party services.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To Provide and Improve Our Services: To create and maintain your account, save your preferences (like custom comfort zones or units), provide customer support, and personalize your experience.
- To Process Payments: To manage subscriptions, process payments, and prevent fraudulent transactions.
- To Communicate With You: To send you important account-related information and, if you've opted-in, our email newsletter.
- For Analytics and Performance: To understand how users interact with our site so we can fix bugs, add new features, and improve the overall user experience.
Cookies and Your Choices
A "cookie" is a small text file stored on your device that helps a website remember you. We use cookies for essential site functionality.
- Authentication Cookies: When you log in, we set a strictly necessary cookie to keep you authenticated as you navigate our website. Without this cookie, you would need to log in again on every page. This is essential for using your account.
- Preference Cookies: We may also use cookies to remember your preferences, such as your chosen units (Celsius/Fahrenheit), so you don't have to re-select them on each visit.
You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. However, please be aware that if you block our essential authentication cookie, you will not be able to log in or use account-specific features of WeatherWiseWanderer.
Our analytics provider, Plausible, is cookieless. Other third-party services like payment processors or social login providers may set their own cookies, which are governed by their respective privacy policies.
